Today's encouragement comes from Acts 17:22, where we read these words:
"So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: 'Men of Athens, I per-ceive that in every way you are very religious.’ ” (ESV)Everybody is “very religious”—way more religious than we think or are willing to admit to. We cannot help but be religious, because we are created in the image of God, the true God. Everybody is clamoring for the kingdom of God, whether they (we) realize it, or not.
Because we are religious, we worship. The only real question is, “What (or who) do we worship?” Paul directed the Athenians to the one true God—and he did so, by preaching Jesus and the resurrection to them. Idolatry’s time has come and gone. Now is the time to believe in the living God, through faith in Jesus Christ.
