Today's encouragement comes from Hebrews 7:12, where we read these words:
“For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well.” (ESV)In the New Covenant the priesthood was changed from the Aaronic (priests), to the Melchizedekian (Priest/Jesus). Now, the Priest would be perfect, not sinful (v. 27). Now the Priest would last forever, not die (v. 25). And now, the Priest would institute the perfections of the New World, in His blood and re-surrection (v. 28).
These changes would include, not only the priesthood, but the Sabbath Day as well. Everything old is completed in everything new; and everything that prefigured is fulfilled in God’s final Word, Jesus Christ our Prophet, Priest, and King.
